This package includes one specimen of Pyrops candelaria, a gorgeous orange and green lanternfly. These are relative of cicadas, although they look nothing alike. Very unique "nose"! They have a wingspan of about 7-8cm. Wings come closed, as you see in these photos, but they are easy to open. Just like a butterfly, but the scales will not rub off because there are no scales! From Thailand. A quality.

Pyrops candelaria (Laternaria candelaria and Fulgora candelaria in older literature) is a species of planthopper that lives in Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Laos, Thailand and other parts of southeast Asia.

They are often sought-out by collectors, attracted by their fore wings, yellow-orange hind wings with a black zone around the wing tips, a reddish head and cephalic process with white spots.

Most, if not all insects are hand raised or from sustainable sources such as insect farms and aviaries. People in third-world countries are able to plant mass crops that are more sustainable and profitable than natural land. They are given the motivation to maintain insect populations and their habitats. Your purchase helps fight extinction and the destruction of habitats worldwide. We do not stock or encourage the collection of endangered/threatened species.

I am a LICENSED IMPORTER all specimens I carry are NOT endangered AND are absolutely legal to own. For more information please head to my shop FAQ's! :)
